On Monday we talked about the difference between a bad eye and a good eye and how the two different eyes affect how we see other people.

Today we see a similar lesson in how we are to judge one another. Jesus is warning us not to act hypocritically by seeing someone else’s issues while ignoring the sin in our own lives. When we first recognize the sin in our own lives and are actively trying to repent and move away from it, we are able to look at someone else with empathy and humility so we can try to help them in a loving, merciful, and healthy way. Which is how we hope God looks at us and our sin right?

When we look at the passage this way, “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.” reads a little different, doesn’t it?
